INVITATION TO PARTICIPATE
You are invited to take part in a research study about the experiences of adults who were raised by a mother with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD). Please read this form before you decide if you want to participate. Your participation is voluntary.

PURPOSE OF THE STUDY
This study looks at how childhood emotional abuse may relate to stress, burden, and well-being in adults who were raised by a mother with BPD. This study is meant to explore patterns that may guide future research and support.

PROCEDURES
If you choose to participate, you will complete an online survey on QuestionPro, a secure survey site approved by Spalding University.

The survey includes:

A brief demographics section
The Childhood Emotional Incest Scale (CEIS)
The Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS)
The Kessler Psychological Distress Scale (K10)
The Burden Assessment Scale (BAS)

Participation takes approximately 15–20 minutes. You may skip any question or stop at any time.

RISKS
Some questions may feel uncomfortable. These questions may ask about childhood, your relationship with your mother, or stress you feel now. You do not have to answer any question that you do not want to answer. There are no physical risks.

BENEFITS
You may not benefit directly. Your answers may help researchers learn more about adults who grew up with a mother with BPD. This may help future research or mental health care.

CONFIDENTIALITY
Your answers are anonymous. We will not ask for your name, email, IP address, or anything that identifies you. Data will be stored on QuestionPro, which is a platform approved by Spalding University. Only the research team will see the anonymous results. Findings will be shared in group form only.

VOLUNTARY PARTICIPATION AND WITHDRAWAL
You may choose to stop at any time. There is no penalty for stopping. Because the survey is anonymous, your answers cannot be removed once you submit them.
